Hello again,

I'm quite interested to build one amplifier like this.

I forgot to add that finding out the necessary impedance ratio of the OPT is the easiest part - much more problematic than that is to find a toroid that really performs as well as the ones Serge used from start, and I had to find by measuring through lots of them.

I still stand to my statement, that Serge had just luck on first try (not regarding impedance of course, but regarding resonances and bandwidth of the toroids).

If you want to copy Serges amp or my amp, you are well advised to use exactly the same toroid types we used.

If you want to experiment with other tubes, be prepared to have to buy some toroid samples and possibly reject them until you find a "good" performing one...

Regards,

Tom

Hello,

when I visited Yves last year, I mentioned to him what a real pity it is that two guys meeting from countries situated border to border and sharing a common history from as long ago as the Roman Empire have to use a third language to communicate - a language from a country neither France nor Germany has a direct (land) border to.

Now, essentially that is the result of French and German school politics, and nothing that could be blamed on an individual. Indeed, I am really sad that I cannot articulate myself in French - so please excuse.

Regards,

Tom

In switzerland Tom, we dont have border with the german part and we use english to communicate. I learn german during 5 years in the school and speak better english than german. So why I dont learn english in the school? probabely is most useful than 5 year of german. German is to much complicated to learn if you dont stay in the country, may be french too. Result, after 5 year of engineer school, my english is poor, and my german more

i think that english language is really poor indeed, but too fast and well to be comprehend easily. I wouldn't blame anyone whho had difficulties to ^peak or even write in franch, That's a big problem for most of us to do it well, so ...
That's not a shame, and we can't even more speak german.
Match nullle 2 à 0. (sorry I can't translate eseally that sentence), but perhpas you will.

Sorry David but this is pure ignorance. English is not a poor language as such, but the English most of us speak and write is poor indeed, because reduced to the minimum required to communicate - a kind of Esperanto.
Why complain about?

Alfred

Well, I suppose that englis language, is really easier than French, Japonese chinese, or arabian language. But this simplicity is perhaps, the cause of such employing it everywhere. I don't complain.

Hello Serge and all,

I just would like to notice that this little amp along your concept was well received at the audiofaidate meeting last sunday, especially considering the good parts price / sound quality ratio. (13,50 Euro / OPT, 1 Euro / tube...)

But less than 3 watts / channel was on the edge even at high efficient speakers in a largish room with many listeners - your "big brother" certainly would have done much more impressive!

Nevertheless, the point of the little brother was "proof of concept" anyway, and in this regard it obviously succeeded :D

Thank you again for sharing the idea!

Tom
