Your advice seems very interesting, but that means new power supply, the new tubes and new coupling to power stage. It is a new amplifier .. Almost all the parts have been ordered...
Oh, I understand. Well, in this case, I would just build the circuit from Triode Dick exactly as described on a breadboard and measure through it thoroughly - and listen to it, of course. If the results satisfy you, you just can build the final amp using a nice chassis. If not, you can tweak on the breadboard until you are satisfied, and then transplant it to a nice chassis

You know, while on the breadboard, many things can be tried and problems solved, which would be much more problematic within a chassis.

In your opinion could something more simple be done improve TD scheme or is a this waste of time to think of doing it ?
First of all, Triode Dick certainly knows what he is doing, so building something designed by him is a good start.
But - I am quite sure that the circuit as shown will need very wide drive swing from a preamp being able to deliver that. Essentially, Triode Dick just moved the usually necessary additional gain stage of such amps into the pre-ampli, so to say. This concept may work nicely, if you have a capable pre-ampli. However, it may fail when you try to drive that amp directly from a CD-Player, though, depending on its possible output voltage.
In this regard, best idea is just building the amp on a bread board and trying it out. If its gain turns out to be too low, or if you want more speaker control by for example introducing a feedback loop, this can be easily accomplished with an additional stage and without wasting any single part you already ordered, I am sure. People of this board certainly will help you.

Tom
